Zinnia Willits

Zinnia Willits is pleased to serve on the Board of Directors for Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding. Her family has a long-standing relationship with CATR as her daughter participated in the Brickhouse Equestrian Program for many years and volunteered with the summer camp. Zinnia and her husband, Andy, a teacher at Charleston Day School, are also committed to supporting the organization through philanthropic giving. Professionally, Zinnia is the Executive Director of the Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), where she leads a regional association serving museum professionals and institutions across the Southeast. She previously spent seventeen years at the Gibbes Museum of Art as Director of Collections and Operations, overseeing collections stewardship, operations, and exhibition and loan programs. Zinnia brings extensive nonprofit leadership experience to the CATR Board, including service as President of SEMC, membership on the SEMC Council of Directors, and participation on the American Alliance of Museums National Program Committee. She currently serves as a Museum Accreditation Reviewer and Peer Reviewer for the Museum Assessment Program in the area of Collections Stewardship. Her expertise includes nonprofit governance, grant writing, organizational operations, and strategic planning. Zinnia lives in Charleston, South Carolina with an additional office in Atlanta, Georgia and is committed to supporting organizations that strengthen communities and expand access to meaningful programs.
